Improvement is a journey and continuous process. You may not be able to fix everything every day; but fix something. By fixing something each day, the opportunity for right functioning and higher output is activated. Many fixes over many days will result in more right functioning and more output. Yep, less time on fire fighting and more time focusing on growth and advancing the mandate of your business.
Importantly, document what you fix. Document it…document it…document it. A documented fix is a revised guideline for improvement and avoidance of repeat errors. Undocumented processes are the result of lazy management who lack the capacity to give effect to consistency and answer the important questions of ‘what is to be done”, “how it is to be done” and “who will do it”. Remember, improvement is a journey and continuous process.
